Full title: Mrs Dale Alford, wife of a segregationist Democratic congressman from Arkansas, talks to two unidentified pickets, protesting school desegregation, at the State Capitol. Two daughters stand beside Mrs Alford and her son stands behind her alight suit, his head hidden by a sign calling a Government Orval E. Faubus to "save our Christian America".

The photograph is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the librarian of the Baltimore Sun Archives Paul M McCardell.
