Belliss & Morcom engine & Mawdsley dynamo

Belliss and Morcom single crank, 2 cylinder vertical tandem compound, vertical, enclosed steam engine (serial number 11373). Direct coupled to a 1958 Mawdsley Ltd. D.C. dynamometer (serial number 120T 805) (Output 8.4kw (equivalent to 11.2 hp). Ran between 250 and 350 rpm, and produced 200 Volts at 12 Amps. The high-pressure cylinder is in line with, and above, the low-pressure cylinder. There is also a condenser unit which is no longer connected to the engine, its dimensions are 1450x650x2000." (70.106I/3). Colour - Black and Red.

Used in the teaching laboratories of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, UWIST.
