Built 1942 as EMPIRE AUSTEN by Lithgows Ltd., Port Glasgow, managed for MoWT by Honeyman & Co. 1946 – Management transferred to Counties Ship Management Ltd., London. 1949 – Sold to Frinton Shipping Ltd., and renamed FRINTON, managed by Counties Ship Management. 1951 – Sold to Crest Shipping Co., Nassau, and renamed FREECREST, managed by Ivanovich & Co Ltd., London. 1955 – Sold to International Nav. Corp., Liberia, and renamed FAIRWATER, managed by Tidewater Commercial Co. Inc., Baltimore. 1961 – Sold to Surrendra (Overseas) Private Ltd., Calcutta, and renamed APJ USHA. She was broken up at Bombay in 1962.
