Lithophane

Porcelain plaque or'lithophane', the porcelain body of a grey-white hue unlit, of creamy yellows and greys when lit; of rectangular form, very thinly cut; the design, in intaglio, depicting through areas of light and shade, when back lit; a pendulate bunch of grapes, two vine leaves above, a vine with twisting tendrils snaking around and behind the bunch of grapes, re-emerging with one further vine leaf below; the vine extending below this leaf and ending in an ornate spiral.
