Cup, tea and saucer

Teacup and saucer, mixed or duck egg paste, both with a pronounced green translucency; the cup standing on a rounded foot rim, London shape tapering and angled sides, thick curvaceous ogee handle; conventional shaped saucer on a shallow foot rim; the cup decorated on the interior with a broad band of underglaze blue with two groups of red and white chrysanthemum heads and gilt foliage and scrolls between two oval reserves of flowers on a white ground, on the exterior with two pale blue pierced rocks and a bird and other flowers and foliage above an oriental fence. The saucer is similarly decorated with three oval reserves of flowers and with pale blue rocks etc in the centre within a salmon pink border embellished with gilt foliage. Swansea set pattern 219.
