Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Slate

A roughly diamond-shaped roofing slate, excavated at Segontium Fort, Caernarfon during 1975-76. The slate is thickly hewn and roughly trimmed to shape and includes towards one corner, a hole for fixing to roof, about 350 A.D. Hole surrounds show traces of iron oxide. There appears to be a similar hole on the extreme edge of the opposite corner.
