Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Early Medieval lead weight

Small rectangular lead weight with parallel top and bottom faces and a slight square indent on one face. Possibly a contraction in the mould.

Viking lead weight for weighing silver.

The lead weights found at Llanbedr-goch show that people there were heavily involved in trade around the Irish Sea and beyond. Traders bartered or exchanged goods, or paid mainly in silver by weight.
