Albert Medal, Land, First Class (No. 1). Gold Albert Medal, oval shape, centre 'A' inverted by 'V' s surrounded by a garter in which 'FOR GALLANTRY IN SAVING LIFE ON LAND' surmounted by a queen's crown; loop suspension with a crimson and white silk ribbon with metal bar at end. In original red box with inscription in gold letters stamped on top of cover (2011.37/2).

Presented to Daniel Thomas for saving life at the Tynewydd Colliery, April 1877.
