Vase, with cover

Vase, hard-paste porcelain, ovoid form on spreading foot with a border of moulded leaves around the foot-rim, to either side of the top of the body twin horizontal twig handles with modelled acorns and leaves at the terminals, the other two sides of the upper body encrusted with large festoons of modelled flowers and leaves, domed cover with a border of moulded leaves around the rim and to the top a kneeling figure of a young boy with flowing draperies and holding an oval shield; finely painted in polychrome enamels with around the body of the vase, the foot and the cover sprays of roses in pink and green, the modelled flowers, handles kneeling figure painted in naturalistic enamels, the moulded borders around the foot and cover picked out in gilt, a border of scrolls and foliage in gilt around the upper body of the vase, gilt lines around the top of the foot and the neck of the vase.
