Urn and cover

Chestnut urn, pewter, oblong curvilinear form with narrow stem and spreading foot, to either end of the urn twin handles with acanthus moulding in cast lead, oblong domed cover with to the top a pinecone finial in brass; covered all over with a black japan, decorated in red, green and silver to which the varnish has given a golden tinge, with to either side of the body exotic birds perched amidst flowering shrubs, sprays of flowers and leaves around the foot, shoulder and cover, the handles and finial gilded.
