Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Big Pit Colliery, photograph

unknown (Photographer)

The "Three Musketeers at Big Pit". These three men seem very well dressed for ordinary mineworkers and the two on the left have, what look like, silver bonneted flame safety lamps which leads to them being officials of some kind. The other man carries an electric hand lamp which would date the photograph from around the 1920s onward. The two men on the right have some kind of overalls on, whilst the man on the left has a work jacket. They don't wear the 'ordinary home clothes' that you usually see on common mineworkers. They are also not carrying water jacks/tommy boxes etc which you usually see on ordinary mineworkers. One man is possibly the donor's great grandfather Mr Ward.
