Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Figures in church

In 1910 Gwen John moved to Meudon, retaining her Paris apartment as a studio. She began visiting the church there, writing ‘I am in love with the atmosphere of Meudon church and the people who go to church here have a charm for me.’ From the early 1910s onwards she made numerous sketches in church, which she worked up later at her studio.
