Jug, pearlware with a slight blue tinge to the glaze, standing on a spreading foot, bulbous body tapering inwards to the mouth, beak spout, plain loop handle; decorated in underglaze blue with to the front of the body the inscription "WILLIAM / PERRY / 1780" enclosed by a cartouche of scrolls, to either side of the body a Chinese scene with pagodas, a looping border around the lip-rim.
