Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Reverend William Heathcote (1772-1802)

OWEN, William (1769-1825)

Although William Heathcote was a clergyman, he is portrayed as a sportsman, with a gun and a game-bag on his shoulder, accompanied by two spaniels. He was the son of a Hampshire landowner and a Prebend of Winchester Cathedral. Owen, who came from Shropshire, painted a dozen members of the Heathcote family.
