Edward Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII) makes a pit visit to Cymmer Colliery, Porth in 1919. He is accompanied by the Insoles, owners of the colliery, together with pit officials and inspectors. Note the brand new lamp used by the Prince and the leather skull cap so popular at the period and a forerunner of the hard helmet.
