Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Caernarvon Castle

TOWNE, Charles (1763-1840)

A sporting, animal and landscape painter, Towne worked for most of his life in Liverpool where he was a founder member and Vice President of the Liverpool Academy. The homely peasant figures and meticulous detail recall seventeenth-century Dutch landscapes on which the artist based his style.
