Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Pot, coffee and cover

Coffee pot, hard-paste porcelain, pear-shaped body with waisted foot-rim, beak spout with foliate moulding to the underside and double scroll handle, round domed cover with to the top a pear finial; decorated with to the front a shield in pink containing a yellow ground against which is painted a small bust in monochrome, the shield and bust enclosed by festoons of green leaves which lead off to either side of the shield and terminate in supports in the form of monochrome ram's heads with gilt rings, the same design of shield and bust is repeated on the cover, but the festoons terminate in supports in the form of grotesque masks, around the rest of the coffee pot and the cover are scattered small gilt sprigs, the spout and handle partially gilt, gilt bands around the rim of the coffee pot and the rim of the cover.
