Clanny flame safety lamp obtained in 1933 from the workings in Abercarn Colliery. Lamp was destroyed during the explosion of 11th September 1878, only the brass base survived (glass shield still present but cracked and melted). Two hundred and sixty eight men and boys were killed, but only twelve bodies were recovered.
