Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Hammer

A hammer used to ‘rough split’ (brashollti) raw blocks of slate blasted from the quarry rock face. Believed to have been produced locally by a blacksmith (possibly 1890’s - 1900s).

The handle is possibly not the original, as the original handle would have been longer.
