Y tu ôl iddo, yn pwyso yn erbyn y wal, gwelir y pren mesur y byddai'n ei ddefnyddio i farcio hyd a lled arbennig y llechen wrth ei naddu.

  2. Wil Proudley, splitting a block of slate, February 1948. Flanked by a sawing table and a guillotine dressing machine the workman is splitting slate using a broad-bladed chisel called a manhollt. Behind him standing against the wall is a notched measuring stick used to fix the sizes when dressing slate.
