Box and cover, porcelain, cylindrical with a vertical rim on the inside enabling the cover to be slotted onto the box, inverted base, slightly domed cover with high sides; the edges of the box and the sides of the cover are decorated with gilt line borders, the box is decorated with a peach ground, the top of the cover is printed and painted with a scene of Crystal Palace during the Great Exhibition of 1851 with the inscription "CRYSTAL PALACE / EXHIBITION / 1851".
