Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Seal impression: Oswestry

St Oswald, king and martyr, patron saint of the town, crowned and seated on a panelled, bench-like throne. In his right hand a sword, point uppermost, held somewhat obliquely, whilst his left hand grasps a tree; the whole alludes to the name of the town (Oswald.s Tree). Field diapered lozengy, a small quatrefoil in each space. Borders beaded. Mullets separate the words of the legend
