Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Mrs Dan Davies of New Quay (holding the bouquet, wife of the company's commordore master) was the sponsor of the TACOMA CITY when she was launched from Gray's West Hartlepool shipyard on 4 September, 1929. Sir William Gray is third from right and next to him stands Captain A.E. Tamlyn, Reardon Smith's marine superintendent. Lady Gray (in light cloche hat) stands next to Mrs Davies whilst W.G. Liley, Reardon Smith's techinical director, is sixth from the left.

S.S. TACOMA CITY (1) (4738gt). Built 1929 by William Gray at West Hartlepool. She was mined and sank in the River Mersey on 13 March 1941.
