S.S. VELINHELI, full hull ship model

Taylor, Don (Mr) (Don Taylor was model maker and conservation officer at the Welsh Industrial and Maritime Museum, Cardiff.)

Full hull model of S.S. VELINHELI, with white sails, cream funnel with red and black company logo. Wooden deck features. Scale 1/4inch :1 foot. In glazed wooden free standing case.

SS VELINHELI built by S McKnight & Co. of Ayr for the Dinorwic Quarries in 1892. She ran regulalry with cargoes of slate from Port Dinorwic to the company depot at Preston. Sold in 1941 she was eventually laid up at Peterhead where she sank in her moorings in 1947. She was raised and scrapped in the the late 1950's.
