S.S. EIR (5658 Grt.). Built in 1920 by the Northumberland SB. Co. Ltd., Newcastle (yard no. 278) as CAMILLA GILBERT for A/S Gilberts D/S (W. Gilbert mgr.), Bergen. She had been laid down as War Lodge for the Shipping Controller. In 1928 she became the EIR of A/S D/S Eir (O Grolle Olsen & I. Hysing Olsen mgrs.), Bergen. In 1937, she was sold to Far Eastern S.S. Co. Ltd. (Johan Gran mgr.), also of Bergen and renamed MABUHAY III. In 1938 she was renamed EASTERN STAR and transferred to Johan Gran's Rederi A/S. On 7 May 1941 she was sunk by the German U 94 whilst en route from Liverpool to Halifax with general cargo.
