Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Medieval lead alloy seal matrix

Matrix with a worn handle and suspension loop. The seal face is engraved with the head of a woman, facing forward, within a single beaded border. The head is framed by a wimple fitting closeley round the face. This wimple bears incised zig-zag decoration. Small sprigs are engraved left and right of the head. The tapering hexagonal handle (with vestigial, rounded facets) has a single piece pointed suspension loop above a single transverse moulding.
