Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Slate

Appears to be a stock slates (crawan gownt), which has been used for figures and calculations, from Rhiwfachno Quarry, Cwm Penmachno. Surface bears an account of new Vein slates produced by R. Roberts, H. Jones and D(?) Evans. Dorse bears an essay on certain difficulties at quarry (?), reads : "...yr olwyn a restion y cwil (?) yn ol ac yn mlaen a methu rhyddhau dim arno. Ac wedi hynnu rhoi y Pwmp i weithio i drio a methu. trio hefyd pren o dan y cwil (?) ac wdyn trio hefo y Polion a troio yn y Pwtr (?) a methy. Troi yr olwyn i fyny a lawr a trio troi y Barie (?), a methu er popeth a rhyddhau dim arnynt wedi ei gael o wythfed i fyny gista nos..."
