Cup and saucer, hard paste porcelain, saucer with a nine lobed rim, well and footring; cup with a raised foot notched around the edge to suggest flower petals, wide cup, ear-shaped handle feathered with small notches down either side, twelve notched rim. Cup and saucer densely decorated in the Satsuma style; outer side of saucer footring enamelled red and gilt; cup foot with an enamelled red and gilt circle pattern and small pale blue and gilt reserves; both saucer and cup painted with the same two large reserves, one of three ladies with one putting a flower in the hair of another, all overlooking a river landscape; other showing figures promenading by a river bank; saucer with two further small reserves of man on balcony and figures seated at a small table; cup with four further smaller reserves of man on balcony, figures with scrolls etc. Brocade ground painted with flower heads, gilt beads and a gilt lattice pattern; borders of segments of variously coloured mons, scales, rice pattern etc; ring of flower heads inside rim. Small red enamel circle in well of cup, painted with gilt petals. Handle , painted gilt and red. Small gilt flower head on angle of handle.
