Bronze Age Gold from Wales

Barry No.2 Dock, glass negative

Dismantling Lillie's Causeway at No.2 Dock, Barry, where it had been demonstrated. Lillie's causway was a floating roadway intended for military use, and consisted of a "mat" of interlinked hexagonal metal caissons. Its success was limited by the lack of adhesion of a wet metal surface made even more impractical by the undulation of the deck in anything other than an absolute flat calm.
