Creation/Production

Came to Wales as a 13 year old with his father (also called Andreas) who was working with the Thyssen Mining Company. When he reached 14 years old he started as a trainee coal miner with the NCB at Caeduke Training Centre. He then spent a year at Graig Merthyr Colliery as a mining trainee. After finishing his training he joined the Thyssen Company and worked at many pits including Morlais and Brynlliw. He had to leave mining after six years because of a serious illness which left him in a wheelchair. While at Coleshill Rehabilitation Centre he was introduced to art as therapy and took up clay sculpture.
