Owen T(homas) Jones

Parc, Merionethshire

Born (1911) on Cystyllen Fawr farm, Parc. Moved to Tŷ Du farm, Parc, when he was ten years old. After a period at Bala Grammar School, he went to University College, Aberystwyth, for two terms to study agriculture. He then worked at home on the farm in Tŷ Du, moving after his marriage to Llwyn Mafon, where he continued farming. A very cultured man, who wrote poetry, read a great deal, and took a great interest in local history and religion. He was secretary of the Calvinistic Methodist chapel in Parc, and a Sunday school teacher. Gretta Jones, Tŷ Du, Parc, Owen T. Jones's half sister, has also been recorded (tapes MWL 1976-8), and there are films of her and OT Jones in MWL making toffee (numbers MWL 127, 138).
