A plaster cast of a middle aged woman, painted to simulate terracotta, terminationg at the lower neck & collar.
This portrait bust is a plaster version of a terracotta sculpture originally displayed at the Wynne family house in Denbighshire. Dalou was one of the most prominent French sculptors of the late nineteenth century. He fled to London in 1871 having been politically active in the failed Paris Commune. It is thought that he and Wynne met during his exile, through her family's artistic connections.
