North Sands type built 1943 as ELM PARK by Marine Industries Ltd., Sorel, Quebec (engine by John Inglis ) for Park Steamship Co., Montreal, managed by Cunard White Star Ltd., Montreal. 1946 – Sold to Triton Steamship Co., Montreal, and renamed TRICAPE, managed by March Shipping Agency Ltd., Montreal. 1950 – Ownership transferred to London office. 1957 – Sold to Nueva Sevilla Cia. Nav., Monrovia, and renamed PALMA, managed by N.J. Goulandris Ltd., London. 1962 – Sold to Northern Marine Corporation, Beirut, and renamed PELLA, managed by M.J. Livanos. In July 1964, she ran aground in fog on Amrum Island (off the North German coast) while loaded with iron ore. She broke in two, and was deemed a total loss.
