Floral face mask. Given by volunteers to Tŷ Doctor surgery, Nefyn, during the initial stages of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Made from printed cotton fabric. Pattern of flowers against a pale cream background. Colours are shads of pink, blue, yellow, purple and green. The lining is made from plain white cotton fabric. Mask is made from a rectangle which has been folded into pleats. The pleats are secured at the sides where they are encapsulated in maroon cotton bias tape. The bias tape is stitched on with machine stitches using white thread. The tape forms a channel through which one long, continuous soft, pale brown cotton lace tie has been threaded. The tie has a knitted construction of a flattened tube. The ends are knotted to prevent fraying/unravelling of the knitted structure. Section fitting over nose incorporates a thin, 8cm long wire to give a better fit. The wire is contained in a narrow channel made by a row of machine stitches using white thread.
