Jug, earthenware, rounded foot-rim, globular body, cylindrical neck, plain beak spout, plain loop handle; transfer-printed in black with to the front of the body the inscription "WALSH / Car cywir yn yr / ing y gwelir / IN ENGLISH / A Friend in deed / is a friend in need" printed within a circular cartouche with a looping chain and stylized flower heads, to either side of the body a chinoiserie-style scene transfer-printed in black and overpainted in orange, green, yellow and purple showing a group of Chinese figures standing in front of an open-fronted oriental buiding, running border to the neck of stylized foliage issuing radiating patterns of dots, brown bands to the shoulder, lip-rim and around the spout, a pattern of stylized oriental leaves to the handle.
