Jug
Jug, pearlware with a blue tinge to the glaze, bulbous body, cylindrical neck, beak spout with shell-like moulding around the underside, scroll loop handle with a raised thumb-spur; the jug relief-moulded with scenes depicting 'The Sailor's Return and Farewell', to one side of the body a female figure waves at a departing male figure, to the other side a male figure comforts a female figure, both scenes set in landscapes with grass, trees, and the sea beyond, and decorated in yellow, blue, green, orange and brown, borders of stiff leaves around the lower body and neck, below the spout and handle acanthus motifs outlined with brown feather-edging, brown bands aruond the lower body and neck.
