Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Flag made to commemorate the 1999 Rugby World Cup. This was the first large-scale sporting event to be held at the newly built Millennium Stadium. The flag was given as a souvenir to Peter Randles, the Design Manager of the stadium building project.
Printed in blue, green and black on a white synthetic fabric ground; white synthetic fabric sleeve for flag rope stitched to proper right side edge. Rope is inserted through this sleeve and is held in place with machine stitches and a wooden toggle at the upper end. Rope hangs out of lower end by 73cm. Thick cream cotton thread is knotted to the toggle (constructed of nine strands that are twisted together in an S-direction).
