Built 1919 by Harland & Wolff Ltd, Glasgow and launched as the WAR JASMINE for the Shipping Controller (managed by Field Line of Cardiff), but was immediately purchased by B.J. Sutherland of Newcastle and renamed CROMARTY. In 1920 she was purchased by Western Counties Shipping Co., Cardiff and renamed HIGHMEAD. 1922 - Purchased by Cia Naviera Sota y Aznar Bilbao, and renamed ASTOI-MENDI. She was renamed MONTE NEGRO in 1939 by the now Naviera Aznar S.A., Bilbao (formed when Ramon Sota left the company). On the 22nd December 1950 she ran aground and was wrecked on Takoradi breakwater, Ghana when sailing for Grangemouth with a cargo of bauxite.
