Cars awaiting export to the USA aboard M.V. RANELLA at Newport Docks. Car exports resumed when the docks reopened in December 1970 following the urgent reconstruction of the damaged entrance lock. Over 10,000 vehicles had been exported by the middle of March 1971. Sometimes there were as many as 4000 cars on the dockside awaiting shipment.
