Bowl

Bowl, stone-paste, standing on a high, tapered foot rim, the sides of cushion-moulded form, rising steeply and flaring with everted outer rim; enamelled in the central well on a turquoise ground with two horses and riders in black outline, the riders with elaborate head wear in brown with brown, green, and cream detailing to their tunics and gilding in bands to their sleeves and to the harness, in the foreground, a brown, lion-type animal, in the background, between the horses, a stylised tree, all within a border of green enamelled chevrons on a dark blue ground, surmounting this, a broad dark dark blue ground reserved with turquoise circles, enamelled with male figures, cross-legged, kneeling and squatting, in black outline with green and black costumes, some detailed with scrolling patterning in cream, with gilded bands on the sleeves all with turban-style head wear; surmounted by a thin black band to the rim with arabic script in cream with a dark blue dentil pattern to the outer rim; the exterior sides with the same turquoise ground, extending and dripping thickly over the foot rim, with a band of Arabic script loosely painted in black around the upper body.
