A fairly hard to hard fabric with a rough feel. In the core the fabric appears a dull grey colour (2.5YR 4/6 - 10R 4/6). In the break sparse quartz and Ironstone can be seen under magnification. Surfaces have a glossy glaze, with a mottled grey/brown colour (2.5YR 2.5/2). Wheel-thrown.
