Spoon
Round handle cawl spoon made by Dai Edwards, Blaenffos.
Spoons designed for consumption of food fall into two categories: broth and porridge spoons, the design and shape of the bow being considered suitable for that particular type of food. Those intended for broth had a rounded bowl, but a perfect circle was never attempted, perhaps because it was almost impossible to achieve such a shape by hand-carving, but also because a slightly oval form fits better in the mouth. The preferred shape of porridge spoons were pointed and narrow.
