Commemorative handkerchief

Square tabby woven cotton handkerchief printed in black, red, gold and blue, commemorating five British military figures, as well as four narrative scenes from the Boer War. The portraits depicted are of: * Col. Baden Powell * Cen Sir Redvers Buller * Maj. Gen. Lord Kitchener * Gen. Sir George White surrounding the central figure of Field Marshall Lord Roberts which is framed by six flags (Union flag on proper right and Royal Standard on proper left) and red drapery. The portraits and narrative scenes are depicted in black and white. The figures are identified by inscriptions below the portraits. The portraits are set within an oval frame, whereas the narrative panels are framed by stylised gold foliage. The background is printed in red and the handkerchief has a border of stylised gold foliage on blue ground. Selvages on both sides (full width of woven fabric = 61cm) and narrow machine-stitched hems along top and bottom.
