Patchwork quilt

Patchwork quilt made by Benjamin Jones (weaver), or a member of his family, from offcuts from Ogof Mill, Drefach-Felindre. Late 1800s.

Symmetrical/geometric design patchwork quilt. Hand-stitched with running stitches using black thread. Edges also stitched by hand. Back/lining of quilt also pieced together as a patchwork (mainly black with grey and brown squares) but using fewer fabrics (35 pieces, 11 different types of fabric). Both on front and back the pieces of fabric are initially joined together along their edges with machine stitches.
