Photograph captioned 'Nantymwyn Lead Mine. This lead mine was opened during the last quarter of the 18th Century by the Earl of Cawdor and for many years it yielded rich deposits of lead ore. The mine was finally closed during the 1930s. Among the numerous ruins on the site are those of a small engine house built of stone and a chimney stack alongside.
