(4860gt) : Built 1917 by Short Bros Ltd, Sunderland as the ADRA for C.T. Bowring & Co's "Red Cross" Line. She was sold to Manuel Hadjilias & Co Ltd, of Syra, Greece in 1933 and renamed IA. At 02.06 hours on 12 July 1940, the unescorted IA while en route from Rosario to Cork with 6,666 tons of wheat on board, was hit aft of amidships by a torpedo from U-99 . She sank 160 miles southwest of Ireland within 7 minutes after being hit by a coup de grĂ¢ce 40 minutes later. Three died and the 27 survivors were questioned by the Germans.
