Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Coir matmaking loom from the County Workshops for the Blind and Disabled, Pontrhondda Road, Llwynypia. The loom was installed in 1925, and was purchased second-hand at the time. t remained in use until a programme of modernisation and redevelopment in the late 1970s, after which it was donated to the Museum in 1978.
Pine frame, with metal fittings, with four spare cogwheels and two spare combs. Wooden frame with cast iron parts. Animal skin has been used to make repairs and lash some parts in place. Loom is set up with a mat part way through production.
