Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Tea canister or teapoy with cover (not original to object), flared foot rim with applied scrolls, baluster shaped body with high shoulder and short, slightly closed neck with plain rim; each side of the body is painted in polychrome enamels with a different Meissen-style Dutch harbour scene, the first features two men next to a barrel and a thrid pulling a small boat to shore, between them is a hoist, the left side of the scene is framed by the hull of a large merchant ship, another ship is sailing in the distant right, the other scene centres on two merchants at a harbour pier, one pointing out to sea at several ships, around them several bundles of goods and a barrel, the scenes are framed by gilt cartouches and between the cartouches are sprays of Japanese-style flowers and foliage, the shoulder is decorated with gilt Laub und Bandelwerk and the applied scrolls at the foot are highlighted in gilt.
