Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Sam Davies, a member of the Dockmaster's staff, retires after over 51 years' service. Dockmaster Captain E. Hocken presents him with a monetary gift from his many friends at Cardiff Docks. Sam started work as a messenger in 1917 (aged 13) and had also worked in the dredging department. He had also been a signalman at the Low-Water Pier and a dock gateman at all the sea entrances of Cardiff Docks.
