Jug, hard-paste porcelain, standing on a rounded spreading foot, ovoid bulbous body, short cylindrical lip-rim, triangular beak spout with foliate moulding to the underside, loop handle with foliate moulding and raised thumb-spur, round domed cover, the finial to the top broken off so that only the stem and leaves remain; finely painted in puce with to either side of the exterior body a view of European birds perched on spreading branches, smaller views of birds to the top of the cover, scattered butterflies around the rest of the exterior body of the jug, the underside of the spout and the top of the cover, gilt lines around the exterior lip-rim of the jug and the rim of the cover, the spout and handle and what remains of the finial picked out in gilt. A narrow crack to one side of the body, the rim of the cover chipped.
